Different from 5.1 and 6.1 system, the 7.1 version provides an extra speaker to create more realistic sound quality so you can experience better home theater system. Thats why if you have an objective to install a surround sound system, the 7.1 home theater system is one of your best alternatives. You can enjoy the true meaning of the term surround in this surround sound system, because the 7.1 offers even more intense and all inclusive audio experience, particularly when you are listening to the music , or watching television programs or favorite movies . You will literally be surrounded with the amazing sound.
How It Works
With the 7.1 home theater system, you can relax sitting in a couch and enjoy the most ideal home theater entertainment center setup in seating area directly in front of it at a distance of 8 to 10 feet. The center speaker is placed in the center of this great theater system, underneath your television. In either side of the entertainment center, two speakers, the right and left, are located at an angle towards your comfort couch.
Two more speakers, the right and left surround, are positioned in the right and the left of the couch, directly pointing towards your ears. The left-rear and right-rear speakers are positioned at the rear of the couch, in similar angle to the right and left speakers but point back towards the couch. The last component is the LFE subwoofer which is located in the front and oftentimes can be concealed. The subwoofer functions to emit vibrations of low frequency bass and it does not need to be featured prominently in the setup.
The Basic Components
Basically, the 7.1 home theater system provides what the 5.1 and 6.1 surround sound systems offer with just another additional speaker. The number 7 in 7.1 means there are 7 speakers that are hooked up to the amplifier. These seven speakers are positioned at seven dissimilar locations surrounding the home theater viewing area. The speakers are thus labeled: center, left, right, left surround, right surround, left rear and right rear. The number .1 refers to 1 source of low frequency effects or LFE emanating from the subwoofer. Therefore, the term 7.1 means the full sound capability of a home theater surround sound system. The combination of the seven speakers with one subwoofer LFE makes the system complete.
Usually, the center speaker is positioned in the center of the home theater entertainment system, while the rest 6 speakers are mounted to the home theater room walls. But this setup depends upon the manufacturers setup. Some speakers are mountable, but some other may be on stands. The most significant effect of having the 7 speakers with 1 LFE subwoofer is that you can get pleasure from a very realistic sound experience that is incomparable by the basic speakers of even the best television, or by the 3 speakersleft, center , and right sounds.
With 7.1 home theater system, you are exactly having a theater quality sound that provides the most advanced audio experience. Watching movies at home will never be the same again.
